"Your Candy is Yucky!"

Oh yes.
My little lion who not once said "trick or treat" or "thank you" said this to some little old lady when she handed him a pack of twizzlers.
Highlight of the night!

Gramma and Charlie, our lil robot.

MeMe helped the crazy tricycling lion maneuver around the road.
Charlie had wiggled out of his robot head right before he crashed. Trick or treating will wear a 10 month old out! Speaking of 10 month olds, I can't believe my baby will be one in just 2 months. Where is the time going?!

Halloween is a ton of fun with a three year old!
Happy Halloween ya bunch of Freaks!

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

This one is going to keep me on my toes.
Seriously.
I was gone just long enough to wipe the big one's heiny.

Pumpkinpalooza!

This one...
Or this one?

Should I resign myself to the fact that I may never get a picture of them where they are both looking at the camera?

pickin' some punkins
Can you believe this lion was too tired to jump in the bouncy house??
He even took a very, very rare nap this afternoon.
Turkey.
Enough said.

The Horsey named Ko-TA!!

Today we went to play at a friend's house and their neighbor has a sweet (and HUNGRY) horse named Dakota. She is so beautiful and had a very mild manner with all these toddlers! Tripp has talked nonstop about Landon's horse Kota! He really loved feeding her and had no qualms about doing so. He proudly told ole Papa Bear that he wasn't scared of the horsey. He was also pretty proud that he brought Kota an apple and  she chomped it right up!
 waiting....
 Here she is!!

Dakota had her share of carrots, celery and an apple! She had a lovely snack.

Henry and Landon ate their veggies themselves. No need to share a perfectly good piece of celery or carrot with a horse who is getting fed as quickly as the other kiddos can feed her.

Thanks Kristi for having us over! We had fun!

Halloween Luminaries

I love a good craft.
I do.
Sadly, this one didn't involve hot glue, but it did involve painting which is really my favorite.

We have a surplus of mason jars this year because the past 3 years, I've canned oogles of veggies and fruit harvested from our garden. But this year we're in a new home and all we managed was some containers with tomatoes and peppers. So, I have TONS of empty and sad jars.

Nothing a little paint and a tea light can't fix!
Supplies: clean pint and quart mason jars, sponge brushes, acrylic paints

Tripp helped paint one, but shhh! Don't tell him I repainted it!
Basically, all ya do is brush on 1 coat of your paint and allow to fully dry. You can certainly do another for more coverage, but I did not. I let these dry overnight and then, painted the faces on the next morning.
Et Voila!
Add a tea light and you're all set!
Won't these look so festive all lit up on my sidewalk Halloween night?

Cute, Cheap and Easy. My favorite qualities in crafting!

Crayons!

They're not just for teething anymore!
Charlie actually "colored" today. He was quite thrilled with himself, too.
Putting the crayon to paper is so much less messy than him practicing the whole spoon-bowl-mouth thing he's been working on a lot lately.
Tripp reminded me that he needed a new paper pumpkin to hang on his corkboard wall because his was from "wast year". So, we had a little arts and crafts this afternoon.
I love his placement.
Charlie's pumpkin is on top and Tripp needed 1 big one and 1 small one. Tripp insisted on gluing Charlie's stem on sideways...okay, whatever.

Love these brudders!

Punkin Carvin' Time!

As with any sort of holiday or tradition in our family, we want our kiddos to know all the history and reasons surrounding it. Pumpkin carving is no exception. What does carving a pumpkin have to do with Halloween and the other traditional holidays of  this week surrounding remembrance of the dead? Well, I will tell you.

Initially, people carved out the centers of beets, rutabagas, turnips, and gourds to make a lantern to set outside of their home during this time to welcome friendly spirits and/or spirits of their loved ones that had passed. It evolved into a superstitious tradition to ward off bad spirits. Once immigrants came to America, they found the pumpkin and it's  perfect design for these lanterns. The term "jack-o-lantern" however, came from an old Irish myth about Stingy Jack whom eventually met his fate as a spirit wandering the earth rejected from both heaven and hell with only a turnip lantern as his light. He was called "Jack of the Lantern" with in turn, became jack-o-lanterns with the carving of faces into the pumpkins.

Pretty interesting, huh?

Okay, on to the cute pics...
Tripp was set on this spider and web design much to the dismay of Papa Bear's love of freestylin'.
the dirty work

He had to wipe off every.single.time. "Dis is gooo-ey!"
Pretty darn pleased with his punkin.
Flickering candlelight = simply magical

Love These Boys

Tripp wanted a picnic snack for Charlie and himself.
Love.

Passed smooth out on the floor, but if you ask him, he did NOT take a nap.
Love.

Climbing up an enormous inflatable slide. He.was.in.heaven.
Love.

So excited about and trying his best to get into the bounce house with his brother.
Love.

Waiting on brother to come down the slide...
Love.

and now for a little pic comparison...

Pumpkin Patch!

Who: 6 of us mamas and the little people that follow us around everywhere
What: Country Pumpkins Pumpkin Patch
When: Thursday, October 21, 2010
Where: beautiful Caledonia, MS
Why:  because what better way to spend a beautiful Autumn day
How: one corn kernel at a time...that's how!

We're big fans of pumpkin patches. We've gone to several different ones in North Mississippi the past couple of years, but today's was extra fun with lots of other friends in tow!

I think the corn filled sandboxes were the biggest hit! These kiddos could have played in there all day.

Happy Fall Y'all!
